The value of a Compassionate, Service, and Supportive Village Network  is a culture that creates a community of caring, loving, positive and supportive personal connections, and a sense of belonging, and well-being.  Access to advice, encouragement, compassionate and productive engagement, resources, activities, events, training, retreats, and networking are also an integral part of this endeavor.

Compassion, Service and Support

"Compassion is a foundation for sharing our aliveness and building a more humane world" (Martin Lowenthel).

"Service to others is the rent you pay for our room here on earth" (Muhammad Ali).

"To be Supportive of others in their hopes, and dreams is one of the easiest things one can do. A kind word, direction, opening a door, extending a helping hand, sharing skills, wisdom, and knowledge, and sometimes providing a nickel or a dime." (Martel A. Perry) Jan 2011

Life's Lessons Learned

I believe that nothing is more important to our ability to effectively address our present than understanding the lessons learned from those who have come before us. Charlie Gonzalez

Life's Stories

We all have a life story. A personal account of all the important events, lessons learned, baby steps, knowledge, and experiences that have contributed to who we have become, and why we did or did not do certain things in our lives whether good or bad.

Life stories can give others a road map into what to expect in life and how to react and/or deal with various situations and opportunities.

"Stories have to be told or they die, and when they die, the world can't remember who we were, what we were, where we came from, what we experienced, or why we were here.  The benefit of sharing our stories, knowledge, and experiences is to ensure information will not be "lost to time" that could have helped someone-by Sue Monk Kidd modified by Martel A. Perry May-2017

Elders

The value of talking and listening to Elders cannot be overstated, for thereare so many things in life that do not change from century to century. We cannot fully appreciate the wisdom that comes from the longevity of life until we ouselves have reached an Elderly status. The age-old statement that so many expess, says:  "If I had known, I would have done things differently"-Martel A. Perry-2018

CSS Village Network International, Inc. has "Elder" (63+) volunteers willing and able to assist members in many subjects and life situations.

Village City Hampton, VA  "Service To All"

When your dreams include service to others - accomplishing something that contributes to others - it also accelerates the accomplishments of that goal. People want to be part of something that contributes and makes a difference. Jack Canfield

What Is The Value Of Religion and
  Faith Institutions To Humanity?

Human beings are religious by nature. They seek a higher purpose outside themselves. Whether Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist or other, religion offers a framework by which people find meaning, belonging and identity. As Rabbi Jonathan Sacks has written, religion gives us “a feeling of participating in something vast and consequential.”  And this feeling tends to flow into civic interactions. American Grace found that religious observance is linked to higher civic involvement, connected to trust and correlated with the neighborly virtues of charitable giving, volunteerism and altruism. Faith Institutions of all kinds bring communities together and provide a space and setting for individuals to serve people they otherwise would not. According to Rabbi Sacks, religion “remains the most powerful community builder the world has known.” (From the Article: The Relevance of Region-Commentary 25 July 2013 -References)

The Book of Remembrance

Malachi 3:16-17 (AMP). Then those who feared the Lord [with awe-filled reverence] spoke to one another; and the Lord paid attention and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him of those who fear the Lord [with an attitude of reverence and respect] and who esteem His name.  “They will be Mine,” says the Lord of hosts, “on that day when I publicly recognize them and openly declare them to be My own possession [that is, My very special treasure]. And I will have compassion on them and spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him.”

Good and Faithful Servant

1 Peter 4:10 (AMP).  Just as each one of you has received a special gift [a spiritual talent, an ability graciously given by God], employ it in serving one another as [is appropriate for] good stewards of God’s multi-faceted grace [faithfully using the diverse, varied gifts and abilities granted to Christians by God’s unmerited favor].

Matthew 25:21 (AMP). "Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful and trustworthy over a little, I will put you in charge of many things."

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can an individual or organization join the CSS Village Network International Inc. website from any state, country, or culture?  Yes. But for now, English is the primary language being used on the website and in its materials.
  • Why are life stories, history, connections, remembrances, training, mentoring, and documentation of such importance? These matters are important because when  anyone counts the mistakes, missed-opportunities, failures, people, families, communities, and organizations that have been lost, people who are unaware or confused about their heritage; and the number of people who are struggling, and/hurting--the number would be in the trillions. What is true is that when we know who we are, the history of our ancestors, what is available to us, how we can correct our mistakes, what opportunities are available, what lessons can be learned from others, and how to move forward and take advantage of the information and connections, then it will be needless to spend our lives searching for things that are in plain sight. This point is true not only for individuals but organizations as well.
  • Does CSS Village Network International Inc. have a Facebook page? Yes! Our Facebook page allows individuals and organizations to interact and to ask questions as long they are respectful in words and intentions!  To be sure, you do not have to be a member of CSS Village Network International Inc. website to interact with us and others, or to view Facebook live events and materials.
  • If I do not become a member of CSS Village Network International Inc. website may I attend all events or training sessions? No. But you can attend or participate in any CSS Village Network International Inc. Facebook social media activity
  • If I become a member can I upload pictures, life stories, or make comments on the website? Yes. But the character of the comments and information uploaded will be reviewed to determine the context to ensure compatibility with being Compassionate, Service oriented, and Supportive to the individuals and organizations that are a part of the network.
  •  If my Village (State, City/Town/County, or Country) is not listed on CSS Village Network International Inc. website can I still join and be identified with my Village (State, City/Town/County, or Country). Yes. The initial Villages (State, Cities/Towns/Counties, or Counties) were chosen because we have coordinators available who represent CSS Village Network International Inc. in those areas.

  • Can I become a Village Coordinator?  Yes. Once you apply and have been vetted to ensure that you want to operate inside the CSS Village Network International Inc. Code of Conduct.
  •  What is the value of being a part of CSS Village Network International Inc. network?   Each person or organization must determine the value of being a member. But the demonstrated value in the past of being a member of CSS Village Network International Inc. has been that participating individuals and organizations have been able to improve their lives, and make a difference in the lives of others.  What is more, organizations have been able to make quality connections that would not have been made otherwise. An added value is that individuals and organizations had opportunity to reflect on the training provided, lessons learned, benefits obtained, and accessible opportunities.
  • How long has CSS Village Network International Inc been around? The concept and practice of CSS Village Network International Inc has been around for over 25 years. What is different is that the concept has grown and transformed from simply face to face, paper-based, conference-based, and little technology to technology friendly and interactive.  The concept has had several names starting with “Clearing House” to “Research/Training Center,”  but the goals have been the same: to document, celebrate, support, provide service, train, connect, help, and archive individuals’ lives and organizations’ operations and contributions.
  • Is CSS Village Network International Inc. network/website a religious network/website? No. The reason that there is a religious section on the website is that the largest contributions to the well-being of mankind has occurred through faith institutions and their members. There are many valued lessons learned, connections, and opportunities that have come through those who were able to perceive and were moved to be Compassionate, to provide Service, and to be Supportive to individuals, organizations, and communities.  Not reflecting or documenting the faith community would be to leave a large hole in our understanding of what is possible when connecting with others and are moved to do good.
  • Does this list represent all the Frequently Asked Questions that may be posed by individuals and organizations? No! But as we grow, we will continue to add more questions received and provide answers.
